Nehru College of Educagtion is an unique self - financing college of education in Puducherry. It was established in the year 2005 and managed by Sree Velayutham Educational Trust.

It has obtained No objection Certificate from the Governmenr of Puducherry.
NOC Order: 10474 / EDN / SECTT / E3 / 2003 dated 30.01.2004.

It has got approval as well as recognition from the National council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Bangalore.
NCTE Order: F.PN - N /187 /SRO /NCTE / 2005-06/2179 dated 04.08.2005.

           It is affiliated with Pondicherry University (Central University), Puducherry

Location :
At the time of establishment the college was situated at Sedarapet, Puducherry 605 111. Now it is shifted to its own new premises located at R.S.No. 49/1, Thondamanatham Revenue Village, R.S.No. 19/3, Pillaiyarkuppam Revenue Village, Villianur Commune, Puducherry 605 502, surrounded by beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. As this college is situated at Pillaiarkuppam (Puducherry Thirukkanoor - Villupuram main road) lot of transportation facilities are available from Puducherry and Villupuram.


The vision of our college is to provide each student teacher with high quality of teacher education through which he/she can gain worldwide practical knowledge, skills, values, morals and to meet the critical challenges of education in the 21st century.

Mission :

The mission of our college of Education is to prepare effective teachers and school administrators, who successfully address the problems of schools and other youth serving agencies, especially in communities with a significant Hispanic population.

Goals :

  • To increase the number of educators committed to create opportunities for educational excellence and equity for all learners, in particular those from lower state of socio-economic back ground, and to enhance academic achievement at every level.
  • To strengthen and intensify the culture of scholarship among education faculty.
  • To develop a sustained, comprehensive and coherent program of teacher education.
